Penthouse demand bucks the property trend in Mill Hill

23rd October 2008 Print
Penthouse apartments are in such high demand at Ridgemont, Countryside Properties' joint venture development with Annington Homes, in Mill Hill, North London, that the company has fast tracked the next release of apartments which will now be available for sale ahead of schedule.

Chris Crook, Subsidiary Managing Director of Countryside Properties, comments: "The apartments at Ridgemont have proved extremely popular with purchasers. The penthouse apartments in particular have been highly sought after as they afford owners the rare opportunity to have far reaching views across North London and the beautiful green spaces of the Mill Hill Conservation Area. It just goes to show that the right product in the right location is still selling despite the challenging market.

“An added bonus for purchasers is the shared equity scheme we have in place at Ridgemont. Through this scheme selected apartments can be purchased with a mortgage of as little as £175,000, perfect for young professionals as Mill Hill East underground station is just a short distance away, giving easy access to the City and central London.

"Countryside Properties' ethos is to offer buyers the best design and finishes of the highest quality in a location that is second-to-none. Ridgemont perfectly exemplifies this and feedback from visitors is that there is nothing else quite like these properties on the market in the area."

The one and two bedroom Saffron and Celadon apartments have been cleverly interior designed to maximise the light and airy living spaces. Apartments feature an open plan living/dining room, a separate fully fitted kitchen and en-suite bathrooms to the master bedroom.

The apartment buildings are arranged around landscaped communal areas and every apartment benefits from either an under croft or podium parking space and a glass fronted balcony or terrace. Externally, properties are angular with sleek lines, flat roofs and large window and balcony recesses. The modern fasciae incorporate sandstone brickwork, ivory render and cedar cladding.

Internally, kitchens include cream gloss fitted units with granite worktops, an integrated ceramic hob, stainless steel oven, extractor hood, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer and a microwave. Bathrooms include contemporary white sanitaryware, with chrome fixtures and limestone tiling.

Ridgemont allows residents easy access to Mill Hill Broadway, two miles away, which offers a host of high street stores, restaurants, pubs and cafes. For the sporting enthusiast, there are plenty of leisure facilities nearby, including tennis courts, a cricket ground, several playing fields, a well known equestrian centre and a Virgin Active gym.

Mill Hill East underground station, on the Northern Line, is just over half a mile away while the M1, A1 and the A41 are close by. Mill Hill is also well served by buses, regular services running into central London and the surrounding area.

The shared equity scheme allows purchasers to own 100% of their own property for just 85% of the cost, with Countryside Properties loaning buyers 15% of the value of their property for up to 10 years. Purchasers simply pay back the relevant percentage of the market value of the property when they sell, or within 10 years, whichever is sooner. There is no interest or rent to pay within the 10 year period*.

Prices start from £204,950 for a one bedroom apartment with balcony and from £264,950 for a two bedroom apartment with balcony. For further information, log on to ridgemont-millhill.com.
