Ten sales in ten days at Maple Quays in Southwark

27th October 2008 Print
Ten sales in ten days at Maple Quays in Southwark Within ten days of launching Maple Quays, a new development in London Docklands, Barratt East London has notched up ten sales. Despite market gloom, over 65 people attended the opening of the new Maple Quays marketing suite and four apartments were reserved straight away. Six more sales came in during the following week.

"As we have said often, the demand for quality new homes in London is there. Times are undoubtedly difficult, but there is still a great appetite for home-ownership, especially in areas like Rotherhithe which combine terrific value with terrific location" said Alastair Baird, Managing Director of Barratt London.

"No amount of economic uncertainty can alter the fact that the whole area around Canada Water will be absolutely buzzing. In fact, it already is - people really want to live there" he said.

Maple Quays kicks-off one of London's largest regeneration schemes, a vibrant canalside community which will eventually comprise some 2000 homes around the Canada Water basin, in the heart of the Rotherhithe peninsula, Southwark.

As well as new homes, the Canada Water regeneration will also include a range of new town centre amenities, including a library, civic plaza, leisure amenities, shops and children's play space.

Maple Quays is the first phase, where Barratt is building the first 42 apartments for sales - now available at prices from just £249,995.

A further 179 apartments are expected to follow in due course, with around 700 homes on adjoining sites after that, subject to planning approval. Stunning contemporary design characterizes Maple Quays and the future phases.

Among key features of Canada Water will be the use of 10 per cent renewable energy - double the guideline figure - and a large percentage of family-sized homes.

The development will also maximize the benefits of the old docks and new canals that give the site its name and are rich in wildlife.

Maple Quays offers one and two-bedroom apartments. All will have fully-fitted designer kitchens, complete with integrated appliances, and family and (where appropriate) en suite bathrooms, with most apartments having balconies from which to enjoy the views. Lifts will serve all floors through stylish common areas and there will be some private parking for residents.

As well as being convenient for Canary Wharf - which is one stop away in the Jubilee Line - the City and nearby City Airport, directly opposite on the north side of the Thames, this part of Docklands has excellent rail communications with the City and central London. Maple Quays is actually right next to Canada Water tube station and Borough Market is just one stop away at London Bridge.

A stunning new marketing suite is now open alongside Canada Water station, complete with show apartment. The first homes are now available off-plan from £249,995 for one-bedroom apartments, £319,500 for two bedroom apartments.
