Barratt secures planning consent for new site in Croydon Leading developer Barratt has been granted planning consent by Croydon Council to build 41 new homes on a prime site on Vicarage Road in Waddon, close to Croydon town centre. Derelict industrial units formerly occupied the 0.37 acre site, which is in a superb position overlooking Wandle Park and opposite Wandle Tram Line.

The new development will comprise a mix of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments and 13 of the apartments will be provided as affordable housing.

Adam Lawrence, Regional Managing Director Barratt London and Thames Gateway, comments: "We are delighted to have secured planning permission for this outstanding site and are looking forward to transforming it into a high quality housing development that will enhance the area and benefit the local community."

Construction work is expected to start in Spring 2009 and it is anticipated the first homes will be completed by Spring 2010.

The new homes will be adjacent to New South Quarter, Barratt's exciting new urban village comprising almost 800 homes, together with a medical centre, nursery school, café and convenience store, as well as commercial space for local businesses.

With fast and easy transport links into central London in as little as 15 minutes, superb amenities and a major regeneration programme in progress, Croydon is widely regarded as area of great potential and is becoming an increasingly popular place to live.

It is anticipated that further details and guide prices for Barratt's new development on Vicarage Road will be available in Spring/Summer 2009. To register an interest, and receive future communications, log on to Barratthomes.co.uk.
