Mayor marks milestone for the Battersea Reach Tower

The ceremony, which marked a major milestone in the construction of the award winning development that is fast becoming South West London’s most popular destination, was conducted by His Worshipful, The Mayor of Wandsworth, Councillor John Farebrother and the Managing Director of St George South London, Mr Mark Griffiths.
St George South London has worked closely with leading architects Broadway Malyan to deliver an innovative, eco-friendly designed scheme that is an architectural statement providing a new entrance into Wandsworth on the South Bank.
When complete the impressive Tower will provide 41 highly specified two and three bedroom apartments inclusive of one magnificent triplex penthouse. Each apartment will benefit from a private balcony or terrace providing stunning panoramic views of the River Thames from Putney through to Chelsea Harbour. St George previously developed the award winning Putney Wharf Tower, which is an instantly recognisable landmark, and is confident this new Tower will be another architectural landmark on the South Bank.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Mayor John Farebrother said “The Battersea Reach development has rejuvenated this derelict stretch of the River Thames and is fast becoming one of the most significant waterfront developments in London. St George South London has made a significant contribution in turning our vision for the regeneration of this area into a reality.”
Mark Griffiths added “The completion of the Battersea Reach Tower will be a milestone in the regeneration of the Wandsworth riverfront. The Tower penthouse is the jewel in the crown of our development and will be a striking new addition to the London skyline. In these more challenging times we are delighted to have already sold 40% of the apartments and anticipate that owner occupiers will be enticed to the Tower by the breathtaking views”.
The tradition of topping-out goes back more than 1,000 years and over the course of time it has involved the use of a yew branch to ward off evil spirits, the hoisting of crested flags to announce the success of the building’s owners, and the use of flags on the roof of a building to alert those on the ground to the need of more materials.
Battersea Reach is set within close proximity to some of London’s most fashionable areas such as Chelsea, Fulham and Battersea. The King’s Road and Sloane Street are just a short journey across Wandsworth Bridge and offer many designer boutiques. The old York Road and Battersea Village are also close by with a wide selection of shops, bistros and restaurants.
Residents are provided with numerous transport options. These include trains from nearby Wandsworth Town railway station which is an easy 12 minute journey to Waterloo providing connections to mainline train services to the south and to the underground, which is a short journey from international connections to Europe via Eurostar from Kings Cross St Pancras. The A3 and M25 are also close by with easy proximity to Heathrow and Gatwick. A managed underground car park is located within the development.
With a limited number of apartments still available for sale in the Tower, St George strongly recommend interested customers to contact the Battersea Reach marketing suite open Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm and from Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm to arrange a private viewing of the show apartment.
