First time buyer finds inspiration with George Wimpey

First time buyer finds inspiration with George Wimpey Legal secretary Helen Smith was given just the helping hand she needed to get on to the property ladder, allowing her to move out of her parent's home and into a place of her own.

Helen (24) took advantage of the Government's First-Time Buyer Initiative to purchase her one-bedroom apartment at George Wimpey's Inspire development in Wallington, just 10 miles from Central London.

Through the scheme, qualifying customers can receive a low-interest loan to cover up to 50% of the purchase price of selected new homes, allowing them to dramatically reduce the mortgage value that they need to secure.

Helen spotted an advert for the initiative in the local press and realised Inspire was only about 10 minutes' drive away from her parents, and her work.

"I have lived in my parents' house all my life until now, and getting a place of my own has given me my independence while still being close to my family, which is fantastic," she said.

"I wouldn't have been able to buy my own home without the assistance of the First-Time Buyer Initiative - it enabled me to get a mortgage."

To help first-time buyers purchase any of the three remaining apartments now available at Inspire, George Wimpey is offering tailor-made deals, including paying the deposit for customers, and covering their legal fees.

The apartments include two one-bedroom designs priced from £159,995, which feature a light and airy living room with Juliet balcony, a dining area and an open-plan kitchen. The double bedroom, which has plenty of space for storage and furnishings, and the bathroom both lead off from the private entrance hallway, while outside there is a communal garden.

Two-bedroom apartments are available from £197,995 and the three-bedroom ‘Alton' housetype is priced £249,995.

Thanks to Inspire's close proximity to the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants of Wallington - and just 10 miles from Charing Cross - the development has great appeal to young buyers and commuters.

Wallington itself boasts a fine array of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, a range of sports facilities and a cinema. The M23 and M25 are a short drive from the development.
