Docklands development defies market gloom

28th January 2009 Print
Docklands development defies market gloom The Elektron, Barratt's award-winning development close to Canary Wharf in London Docklands, has sold-out ahead of programme. Despite market gloom, Barratt Homes East London sold out the final phase of apartments at The Elektron at the rate of two per week between November 2008 and January 2009.

"It was a case of exceptionally high-quality apartments in a superb location, correctly priced for the market conditions" said Barratt East London operations director Gary Patrick. "This shows that demand for new homes remains high in London."

With three striking apartment towers, The Elektron has changed the Docklands skyline, rising to a height of 25 storeys (76m), making it the tallest Barratt structure built to date.

The Elektron stands on the site of a demolished electricity switching station off Aspen Way at East India Dock, Leamouth, and has captured the imagination of the homebuying public since work began almost three years ago.

Within strolling distance of Canary Wharf and City Airport, with a Docklands Light Railway station right next door and with fantastic river views, The Elektron provides a total of 437 one and two-bedroom apartments and has played an important role in the creation of new and sustainable communities in the ongoing regeneration of the Leamouth area of Docklands.

Designed for Barratt by the award-winning architects, Halpern Partnership, The Elektron includes newly-landscaped open spaces for use by residents, two exclusive health and fitness suites, plus a concierge facility and some commercial space.

The final phase of one-bedroom apartments at The Elektron from £219,995 and £415,995 for two-bedroom apartments.
