Barratt gives platform for aspiring London artists Barratt’s stunning new Dalston Square development in Hackney, East London, is hosting a month-long exhibition by some of the capital’s most promising new artists.

The spacious marketing centre at Dalston Square – a very large, naturally-lit area that could almost have been made for hanging artworks – is being used to showcase art and photographic work provided through DegreeArt.com, a company which specialises in promoting work by the cream of art students and graduates.

Based in nearby Vyner Street, E2, DegreeArt.com is run by Isobel Beauchamp and Elinor Olisa. “We created the business to provide promising, emerging artists with a platform from which to launch their careers and to provide the art buying public with access to them and their work” said Elinor.

“Using a very large new space like the Barratt centre at Dalston Square is a great opportunity to get work seen by people who are in the process of creating their own living spaces. We’re looking forward to it.”

The exhibition involves the work of several artists, many of them local or based around East London, and most of the work on show will be available to buy.

Gary Patrick, operations director at Barratt East London, said: “We’ve known from the moment we started work that Dalston and the wider area around it absolutely buzzes with creativity, and is home to lots of artists.

“The marketing centre at Dalston Square is unusually large and actually feels like a gallery space, so we thought it would the ideal place and time to showcase some of London’s new young talent. We’re glad to be working with DegreeArt.com on what is a really exciting project.”

The exhibition launches on 28 February and runs throughout March. The centre is open daily from 10.00am to 6.00pm, entry is free and all are welcome.

“Dalston Square is revitalising the heart of Dalston and encouraging more investment into the area. The project is going ahead in two phases – Dalston Lane South and Dalston Junction Interchange, with the new Dalston Square linking and integrating them. Both sites include new homes, some going on top of a new East London Line station which is due to open in 2010.

The current phase of Dalston Square offers two and three-bedroom apartments from £312,995.
