Super studios on Bow offer waterside living

13th May 2009 Print
Affordable and London are two words that rarely go hand in hand but at Berkeley Homes (Capital) Plc’s Caspian Wharf development in Bow, E3, studio apartments are priced from just £210,000.

The developer has noticed a trend for Canary Wharf professionals priced out of the central Docklands property market opting for a studio at Caspian Wharf as it offers an excellent way to get on the London property ladder without losing commutability to the business hubs of the capital.

Currently, there are five studios for sale at Caspian Wharf, ranging in size from 306 to 356 square feet. Internally, the studios are fitted to the same high standards as the larger apartments at the scheme, with the very best appliances and hardware creating a contemporary living space. As standard are individually designed Alno kitchens, Siemens appliances and heated towel rails. The majority of the studios also benefit from balconies, and Caspian Wharf boasts a communal landscaped podium and separate terrace allowing residents exclusive access to open space with stunning panoramas towards Canary Wharf.

Piers Clanford, Operations Director of Berkeley Homes (Capital) Plc, points out that buyers needn’t be faced with an uphill struggle to own a new home in the capital: “The biggest issue facing house buyers is having a large enough deposit to access the best mortgage deals. This has meant that for many, buying in London has become out of reach. However, with prices at Caspian Wharf starting from just £210,000, a more modest deposit is needed and you’re also buying in an area where long-term potential is looking positive, thanks to the Olympic regeneration efforts.”

Considering is proximity to public transport and the Olympic Park in Stratford, the prices at Caspian Wharf are very attractive when compared to central Docklands. Caspian Wharf is located within walking distance of both Langdon Park and Devons Road DLR stations, and Bromley-by-Bow and Bow Road Tube stations. This means that the journey time to Canary Wharf from both DLR stations is just 8 minutes, with the commute from Bromley-by-Bow to Canary Wharf taking 15 minutes. For those who prefer to walk, Canary Wharf is just over 30 minutes away by foot.

As the excitement and interest build ahead of the 2012 Olympics, more people will be motivated to live in East London, so now is the time to purchase at nearby developments. Residents at Caspian Wharf are going to benefit from the new Green Lane initiative recently launched by the Olympic Delivery Authority. One of the Green Lanes, which is designed to enable travel to the Olympic Park by foot and cycle, will run from Limehouse Cut right where Caspian Wharf is located.

The Limehouse area has an abundance of cafes, bars and restaurants, notably Gordon Ramsay’s The Narrow, which is housed in a Grade II listed building originally built as the Dock Master’s house. The Grapes pub, also on Narrow Street, was a personal favourite of Charles Dickens, and retains its olde world character with bare floorboards and wooden chairs.

Current prices at Caspian Wharf start from £210,000. Now open is a brand new show unit, and sales and marketing suite at Caspian Wharf – the first time there has been an on-site presence. The studio show home features an innovative space-saving wall bed that transforms from a stylish sofa to a luxurious bed. Purchasers can personalise their studio by ordering one of these wall beds through Berkeley Homes.
