Islington – The house price hotspot

New research carried out on 170 local authorities by estate agent Chesterton Humberts found that Islington had experienced a 0.5% increase since June 2008.
Kathryn Price, Development Manager at Durkan Estates, comments: “Despite general market conditions it is of no surprise to us that house prices have seen an increase in Islington. It is a vibrant, youthful, chic location with an ecletic mix of bars, restaurants and boutique shops which keep the area in high demand. Morton Grand is ideally placed, off the main road, on a quiet street but only a few minutes walk from Upper Street with it’s great selection of shops and transport links.”
Morton Grand is a converted Victorian boarding school, combining a range of newly built homes as well as the careful restoration of the 19th Century main Art Block which has been sympathetically renovated and refurbished into apartments using high quality materials and modern methods of construction, old meets new in these comfortable, stylish homes designed for modern living.
Featuring a collection of one, two and three bedroom apartments and two and three bedroom converted houses Morton Grand has something for everyone. The apartments are finished to a high standard with integrated contemporary kitchens, luxury bathrooms, video entry phone system, exceptionally high ceilings and windows and many other high spec extras.
The houses, however, are something special. Situated either side of the Art Block, they have been restored to keep their charm and character while including a modern specification to make you feel at home. The two bedroom mews houses feature a living/dining room and kitchen on the ground floor with wonderful floor to ceiling windows providing as much light as needed. Upstairs on the first floor are the two bedrooms with incredibly high vaulted ceilings which allow natural light to flood the rooms.
The converted outer school building at Morton Grand is truly stunning. Old and new literally come together here as the building has been extended to allow for more rooms. Accessed via a private gate into the front garden, the original brickwork and new copper cladding blend seamlessly together creating a very quaint dwelling. The living room is spacious and the house offers a separate dining room. The ground floor is completed by a fully integrated kitchen. The first floor is home to the main bedroom with en suite shower room and walk-in wardrobe and is finished with the third bedroom and family bathroom. Upstairs on the second floor is a generously sized bathroom and second bedroom, ideal for teenagers!
Situated on Ecclesbourne Road, with a desirable N1 postcode, Morton Grand is perfectly placed for a City base. Just a stone’s throw from Essex Road Station and only a short walk to Islington’s popular Upper Street, the development enjoys a central location in this vibrant and exciting borough. The West End, with its fantastic choice of shops and theatres is just 10 minutes away by tube and the newly extended St Pancras International station is only minutes away and offers Eurostar journeys to Paris and Brussels.
