First time buyer takes the plunge at Waterside Park

Electrician Dominic Darvell was so impressed with the George Wimpey homes he was working on at Waterside Park in West Drayton, he’s purchased his first apartment at the West London development.

The savvy 22-year-old received help with his deposit from George Wimpey, and with a two-year builders’ warranty and 10-year guarantee from the National House-Building Council on his new home, he feels safe in the knowledge that unlike a second-hand property, he won’t have to face spending extra money on home improvements.

“As well as working on the new homes at Waterside Park, I had heard about the regeneration of West Drayton and its new Crossrail services through a TV programme, and saw it as an opportunity to get a foot on the property ladder,” explains Dominic, who previously lived with his parents in Ickenham.

“Although I have had to sacrifice a few luxuries to afford to own my own home, like getting a newer car, I see it as a sound investment and love living at Waterside Park.

“It’s a very peaceful development, and I like that it’s set back from the centre of West Drayton with only one entrance and exit, which keeps the traffic to a minimum. My apartment overlooks the Grand Union Canal and I already seem to have adopted some pet geese!

“Waterside Park is definitely a friendly neighbourhood – I’ve made friends with quite a few neighbours in the apartments, and we’ve had a barbecue and get along really well.”

Dominic, who works for Walsh & Dempsey Electrical Contractors based in Hanwell, West London, is now looking forward to his girlfriend, 21-year-old Lisa Kuhn who lives in Germany, coming over to see his handiwork this summer.

Customers can currently choose from the range of two-bedroom ‘Little Grebe’ apartments at the development, which will be ready to move into in June and are priced from just £194,995. Selected designs have balconies or terraces and views over the Grand Union Canal, while each benefits from allocated parking.
