First couple move in at The Avenue

When the couple visited the Nottinghamshire development they weren’t really looking to move, but in Jayne’s words “the house chose us” and just three days before Christmas they swapped their bungalow in Kirkby for a new, three bedroom home.
Jayne explained: “Andrew and I decided to visit the new development near our village and when we got there it just felt right. We went for the ‘Heather’ housetype without even seeing inside, because the development was at such an early stage. It sounds funny but I think it chose us – but it chose right!”
Jayne and Andrew both work in Revenue and Customs in nearby Nottingham and are relishing their new home lifestyle. Jayne (50) has moved half a dozen times in her life, and military man Andrew (55) is also no stranger to relocating, having been posted all over the world during his Army career.
But now the Cawleys are very settled at The Avenue, and plan to spend their retirement their in the years to come.
“For us it was a chance to downsize, but stay in an area we both love and which is convenient for work,” continued Jayne. “We took advantage of George Wimpey’s easymover programme to help sell our bungalow, and also used their free House2Home removals service. It’s true what they say – you can relax while George Wimpey takes away the hassle and does the hard work for you.
“With our new home fully carpeted and decorated in neutral colours, all we had to do was move in. We love the south-facing living room overlooking the garden it’s such a light and airy room and our favourite place to be. I’ve never lived in a newly built property before, but I would certainly recommend it.
“The community is growing around us as more people choose The Avenue as a place to call home, and whereas we used to live in an area where most people were retired, here it’s lovely now to have neighbours of all ages.”
The Avenue is set in the Nottinghamshire countryside just a mile from the heart of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, which is home to an excellent array of independent and high street stores, in addition to a market four days a week. Closer still, a family-friendly pub and a primary school are both within easy walking distance of The Avenue.
Nearby Nottingham and Mansfield are both easily reached by road and the public transport serving the area. Commuters will appreciate the convenient access to the M1 and A60, and the town rail station services to Nottingham, from where there are regular services to London.
George Wimpey’s easymover programme provides a range of attractive incentives on selected properties including support for first time buyers, while customers like the Cawleys with a house to sell can reserve their new home and then sit back and relax while the housebuilder finds a buyer for their current property and pays the estate agents' fees.
Customers can also take advantage of George Wimpey’s House 2 Home bespoke moving package comprising free UK removal regardless of distance or size of property, full packing and unpacking service and insurance cover.
The Sales Centre, located in Great Portland Park, Kirkby-in-Ashfield is open five days a week from Thursday to Monday, 10.30am to 5.30pm. Alternatively, information on all George Wimpey developments across the region is available by visiting georgewimpey.co.uk.
