Mum helps student find her dream home

7th November 2008 Print
Mum helps student find her dream home When 19 year old student Sarah Smith was accepted into Nottingham University's Veterinary College, the race was on to find the perfect pad- and with the help of her Mum, she found it at David Wilson East Midlands' Old Hall Gardens development in East Leake.

Sarah, originally from Bewdley in Worcestershire, had dreamed of becoming a vet since the age of eight, so when she was accepted into the prestigious college, she was understandably over the moon.

Sarah says "I was thrilled at getting accepted, but like many students my mind immediately turned to where I was going to live.

"My Mum and I looked around a few places but nothing was suitable, and then her friend told us about an ad she had seen for ‘Home of the Week' at Old Hall Gardens- so we decided to take a look around.

"As soon as we saw the apartment, I immediately knew I wanted to live there. It's a second floor, two- bedroom apartment and was everything I was looking for."

The two bedroom apartment that Sarah was interested in was ‘Home of the Week' and had been reduced in price from by £20,000 to £130,000, but home ownership is more difficult for students so Sarah looked to her Mum to help her out.

Sarah continues "Being a student I'm not in a strong enough financial position to buy, so my Mum offered to purchase the property and now I rent it off her.

"It's a great set-up, I know I've got home security plus my Mum knows that her new home is getting looked after! I'm very lucky to have a parent who is in a position to help me out."

Philip Lacey, Sales Director for David Wilson says "The apartments at Old Hall Gardens provide a range of housing solutions as perfectly demonstrated by Sarah and her Mum.

"With the current financial climate, more and more possible first time buyers are looking at their parents to give them a helping hand financially- and if the parents are in a position to do so then it could prove a savvy investment for their future too.
"Not only are the apartments at Old Hall Gardens fantastic value for money but we have a number of great deals on at the moment tailored especially for people who may otherwise struggle to get on the property ladder including 5% deposit or legal costs paid, three year price guarantee or a number of shared equity deals.

“There are a range of offers available and we endeavour to find the right deal for each individual, so why don't you come and speak to one of our experienced sales negotiators to see what David Wilson can offer you?"

Emily concludes "It's a great apartment in a fantastic location, with easy access to college as well as plenty of amenities in the area including a leisure centre, swimming pool, co-op, pubs and takeaways, everything about my new apartment is perfect."

Old Hall Gardens is situated on Station Road in the pretty village of East Leake and offers a selection of two- bedroom apartments as well as two- and three- bedroom apartments.

Prices at the development start from £89,000.
