Fernwood fete gets a helping hand

Organised by the Fernwood Parish Council, the recent fete was designed to bring the whole community together and David Wilson North Midlands, which has a development of new homes on Great North Road called Fernwood Village, donated £250 towards the event.
The weekend long fete was fun for all the family and saw the local community come together to enjoy a range of attractions such as a funfair, barbeque, cream teas, bouncy castle, swing band and disco in the evening.
Sue Bennet, events co-ordinator, Vice Chair of the Village hall, and newly elected Parish Councillor explained, “Fernwood Village is a brand new community and as such, we really wanted to encourage residents to come together, get to know each other and have a bit of fun.
“This is the first event of its kind and over 2,000 people visited over the weekend, which is really a staggering amount and we were very pleased with the turnout. As a not-for-profit event, we were relying on funding from the council and businesses like David Wilson, therefore the donation of £250 was very well received and enabled us to provide even more entertainment for the crowds.”
James Poynor, Sales Director for David Wilson North Midlands said, “It is of the utmost importance for us to support and build links with the communities in which we build. This is even more significant in the case of Fernwood Village because this is a completely new community which means that residents are unlikely to know many of their neighbours.
“The Village Fete was, therefore, the ideal way for residents to get to know each other and helping to build a strong community as happy neighbours are the key to a communities long-term success. We were delighted to help fund the Village Fete and the weekend was a huge success.”
Fernwood Village is situated within 62 acres of woodland, meaning homebuyers can enjoy a relaxing, rural lifestyle whilst being close to the shops and amenities of Newark which is just a few minutes drive away.
Fernwood Village offers a selection of three- bedroom houses. Prices start from £161,995. For more information, log on to dwh.co.uk.
