A big lunch brings new community closer

Organised by Iain and Linda Tennant, who moved to their four-bedroom home at The Avenue in March, most of the new residents at the development came along to enjoy the community event on Sunday 19th July, bringing a mouth-watering selection of party food including sandwiches, vol-au-vents, delicious home-made cakes and even a pavlova. Some residents also made bunting and banners for the day.
Iain said: “I heard about the national ‘Big Lunch’ initiative and decided it would be a great idea for people to get to know each other at The Avenue, and so I popped a flyer through each of our new neighbour’s doors inviting them to get involved in our street party.
“If we didn’t go out walking our golden retriever, Dexter, Linda and I wouldn’t have met many of our neighbours because we both work long hours and like most people nowadays we just go from our front door to our car at the start of the day and back at the end.
“The ‘Big Lunch’ was a lovely way to break the ice for us and everyone who came along, and we had lots of fun despite the rain coming down just as we uncovered the food!
“With the Pimm’s flowing we all got to know our neighbours that little bit better and now we’re planning a Halloween barbecue and a Christmas party for everyone at The Avenue, when even more people will have moved in!”
Customers considering making their move to a brand new home at The Avenue can currently choose from three-bedroom houses starting at £114,995 and four-bedroom homes from £174,995.
