Newlyweds go off-plan to secure a new home

17th August 2009 Print
Newlyweds go off-plan to secure a new home Newlyweds Sarah and Chris Trim watched on as their new Miller Home was built and perfected by the award-winning housebuilder, and so can now be sure that it’s crafted just the way they wanted.

Medical sales representative Sarah and Quantity Surveyor Chris recently moved into their London-style home at the Laurel Wolds development in Cotgrave after purchasing the property off-plan.

The couple, who met while at Nottingham University and recently tied the knot, chose to swap their three-bedroomed pre-war semi-detached with a five-bedroomed London-style property at Laurel Wolds.

They decided that they needed somewhere bigger, as Sarah works from home, and chose a new property they could, quite literally, move into without having to do any DIY tasks.

Sarah said: “We wanted to stay in the area, as we liked Cotgrave and the Miller Homes development is quite small so it is not as though you are on a huge estate. There’s a real small community feel to the place.

“After looking at the London-style showhome, we were really taken with the size and space and loved the layout. We had looked at other housebuilders in the area but none of their properties were finished to the standard of the Miller Homes ones.

“We decided to buy off-plan as we’d set our hearts on this particular house. Not only has it been great to come and see it being built and the hard work and skills of the people on site at first hand, but also, buying off-plan allowed us to add our personal touch to the house before we even moved in.

“The Miller Options Centre helped us select the right kitchen, flooring, fixtures and fittings – and now it truly is a house that is ours through and through.”

Situated a few miles to the east of Nottingham and within easy reach of the city’s attractions and amenities, the village of Cotgrave has a rural ambience that provides a refreshing and relaxing contrast to the pace of city life.

Joy Goodman, sales director for Miller Homes East Midlands, commented: “The rise in the number of people who want to buy off-plan is another sign that confidence is slowly but surely returning to the new homes market - with people who said that they wouldn’t have considered buying new before, recognising that it is often the most affordable option.

“In the year during which Miller Homes will celebrate its 75th anniversary in housebuilding, we sincerely hope that Sarah and Chris will enjoy similar success in their marriage. They have decided to take on two major events in close succession so we hope that we have at least been able to take some of the stress away from moving house and provide the couple the security they need as they embark on married life."

The sales centre at Laurel Wolds, where there is a selection of two, three, and four bedroomed homes ranging from £199,950 to £289,950, is open Friday to Monday 10.30am to 5.30pm and on Thursdays between 11.30am and 6.30pm.
