Developer takes a walk on the wild side at Newark

27th August 2009 Print
Having just completed on its smallest ever home, Stamford Homes is anticipating the arrival of the latest ‘residents’ to its Newark development in the not too distant future.

With the help of Lincolnshire-based environmental organisation The Acorn Project, Stamford Homes has erected an owl box at the Rushcliffe development as part of its commitment to preserving and encouraging local wildlife.

The development – and its residents – enjoys the benefits of a privately-managed, purpose-built meadow that meanders down to the River Devon.

Stamford Homes has worked with environmental professionals each step of the way to create as natural habitat as possible, with carefully selected flora, fauna and trees making up the meadow itself.

Steve Shore from The Acorn Project – along with Merlin the owl – was invited to help set up the owl box.

Stamford Homes regional sales and marketing director Peter Bond said: “The meadow itself is a wonderful amenity to be enjoyed by residents, and give us an opportunity to do what we can to encourage local wildlife.

“We have a long association with the Acorn Project through sponsorship of a school environmental award, and value Steve’s input. We hope the nesting box provides a safe and inviting home for the owls over the coming months – with some new arrivals next year.”

Steve added: “We applaud Stamford Homes’ efforts to protect and encourage wildlife and hope the residents of the development will reap the many benefits.”

The development is currently selling its last remaining three and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £229,950. The showhome and sales and marketing suite are open from Thursday to Monday between 10.30am and 5pm.
