Local housebuilder scouts new designers!
Local housebuilder Meadgate Homes challenged pupils at the school, situated across the road from the developer’s Heathfields site, to take part in a design competition for the chance to win a special Christmas selection box.
Made up of three categories, the competition challenged pupils aged between six and eight to design their favourite room and the eldest children from nine to ten were tasked with designing their dream home. Not wanting to leave out the younger children, Meadgate asked them to join the dots on the outline of Meadgate housetypes.
Marilyn Ledley, Sales Manager at Heathfields, says: “This competition has provided a great opportunity for the pupils to feel part of the changing face of Risca. It’s also a fantastic way for us to interact with the community in which we are building and allows the children to show off their creativity. We’ve been thoroughly impressed by all the entries – we now know where to come when we’re looking for new designers!”
Liz James, year three teacher at Ty Sign Primary School says: “The children have been really excited by this competition and it has given them the opportunity to demonstrate their creative talents. Some of the designs show real artistic flair and it’s really interesting to see their ideas of what a house and a room should look like.”
