Eco-building fans get access to timber frame know-how
Eco-conscious self builders, housebuilders, architects and others can now benefit from a one stop information service from the UK Timber Frame Association (UKTFA), which includes access to the UKTFA’s technical helpline, training information and advance knowledge of timber frame industry developments.A new 'Client' membership category is designed for housebuilders, housing associations and developers. Reduced cost 'Associate' membership is available for self builders, architects, students and other people interested in timber frame as a route to low carbon homes.
Both memberships will also include benefits such as invitations to key meetings, discounts on the UKTFA’s extensive list of technical and marketing literature, and access to relevant training materials.
The improved membership categories are being introduced by Bob Davis, the UKTFA’s newly appointed Membership Manager. Bob will look after all aspects of the association’s membership and communications with more than 250 member companies across the timber frame industry and related sectors.
As part of his work to improve communications with all members, Bob will co-ordinate and run membership meetings, and will ensure that the UKTFA has a presence at key exhibitions and events.
He will also be responsible for the UKTFA’s quality assurance schemes, Q-Mark, Q-Mark Plus and Q-Mark for Suppliers.
Bob Davis says: “If we want to ensure that timber frame remains the number one choice among eco conscious self builders and specifiers then we need to open up our channels of communications to a wider community.
“By creating a new membership structure, we can ensure that clients of the timber frame industry can keep abreast of the latest developments as well as having access to our technical and training experts.”
