Estate agents who process sales without a HIP will be breaking the law

19th May 2007 Print
In response to speculation that estate agents will accept fines for marketing properties without HIPs after the 1st June, Stephen Callaghan, Director of energy-assessors.com comments:

"It is inconceivable to think that professional estate agents and solicitors will break the law by processing home sales without a HIP after the 1st of June.

"Those who believe estate agents are going to risk their own professional reputations in order to happily accept a recurring Trading Standards fine of £200 on behalf of their customer, are severely misinformed.

"This regulation is going to be rigorously policed by Trading Standards and those who fail to comply risk mounting up considerable fines resulting in court action."
