Landmark Information Group maps out its green credentials

As a Woodland Trust supporter, Landmark has already planted nearly 650 trees in woodland areas across the country.
Supporting The Woodland Trust forms part of Landmark’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy and ongoing commitment to reducing its impact on the environment. Landmark has implemented a range of initiatives such as the installation of energy efficiency light bulbs throughout all of its offices, and an extensive recycling campaign with local community based operatives which means everything from waste paper, mobile phones, to toner cartridges and milk cartons are now recycled.
With offices in both Exeter and Henley, Landmark has recently undertaken a travel survey in conjunction with Sowton Transport Management Association and Devon County Council which assessed how and from where employees are travelling to work. As a result, Landmark actively encourages its staff to consider alternative methods of transport such as car or taxi share through the company’s intranet which highlights the travel plans of other employees. A cycle scheme has recently been introduced which offers employees attractive tax benefits if they purchase a bike for their commute.
Commenting on Landmark Information Group’s involvement, Stephen Stout, Group Managing Director said: “Landmark recognises that implementing good environmental practices are integral to what we do. Our aim is to minimise our environmental footprint by focusing on the areas in which we have most impact such as reducing and recycling waste, using energy efficiency and promoting environmentally friendly policies in the workplace.
“Supporting The Woodland Trust provides a fantastic opportunity to help conserve our native woodland and physically give something back to the environment and we look forward to developing this relationship further and exploring other ways of working together.”
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading charity dedicated solely to the protection of our native woodland heritage. Since its foundation in 1972, the Trust has created over 3,200 hectares of new native woodland.
Janice Hix, Corporate Fundraising Manager, The Woodland Trust commented:
“We welcome Landmark’s support which will really make a difference in helping to replenish woodland crucial in improving the UK’s biodiversity. With less than 12% of the UK covered by woodland, compared with the European Union average of 46%, support from businesses like Landmark is vital to help make positive steps to increase and improve our richest wildlife habitats.”
