Auction fever at George F White

The firm’s Bedale office will be hosting an auction on Tuesday 21 August for land near Marsett, Bainbridge. This is productive pasture, extending to over 44 acres, with stone barn, roadside frontage, natural water supply and breathtaking views of Raydale and Semer Water. A significant annual income may be obtained from both the SPS and Environmentally Sensitive Areas schemes. Held jointly with Hawes Auction Mart, this sale is due to kick off at 3pm. Offers are invited.
Greensyke Farm, on the outskirts of Haltwhistle, is for sale with a guide price of £750,000. An attractive livestock farm, it has traditionally been a productive unit, rearing top quality suckler calves and mule ewe lambs. The farmhouse itself has three bedrooms and has recently been renovated. It comes with a range of traditional outbuildings, with electric and water supplies throughout, and land extending to around 98 acres, which is all currently down to grass. Greensyke Farm will be auctioned at Greenhead Hotel, Greenhead on Wednesday 5 September at 7pm, unless previously sold privately.
Finally, redundant farm buildings at High Castledene, Consett, will be sold at the Park Head Hotel, Consett, on Wednesday 12 September at 6.30pm. This is a small agricultural holding with residential, agricultural and equestrian appeal. It comprises a traditional stone building with planning permission for conversion to a one bedroom cottage and a steel portal general purpose/livestock building, together with productive meadow and pastureland, stretching to around 19 acres. The guide price for this is £170,000.
George White, Senior Partner of the firm, says the team is raring to go. He explained, “Since the beginning of the year, we have been overwhelmed by instructions to sell land and farms. Auctions are becoming increasingly popular and we have been astonished by some of the prices reached. This latest round of auctions has already attracted a great deal of interest right across the region, and we are looking forward to some competitive bidding”.
