Savills disappointed by early expansion of HIPs

20th August 2007 Print
The Government has announced that Home Information Packs (HIPs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) will be extended to three bedroom properties from 10 September 2007.

Christopher Lacy, the director of Savills responsible for the implementation of HIPs into the residential agency business said: “It is hugely disappointing that the Government has failed to take the opportunity to ensure that the supply system for HIPs is functioning well before expanding the requirement to 3 bed homes. HIPs have only been in force for 4 bed homes for just over 2 weeks and the Pack Providing companies and estate agents are still struggling to 'tune' their systems for the efficient supply of packs. Not only that, but it is done within the peak holiday period with only 3 weeks notice for those considering selling their homes”.
