Persimmon appoints new MD for Severn Valley

Persimmon Homes has appointed Carl Haley as managing director of its new Severn Valley region. Carl (35) joins the recently established company from David McLean Homes where he held the position of managing director for the South Wales region for the past four years.

Having entered the property industry over ten years ago, Carl is a qualified surveyor and rose through the ranks of smaller property developers before working for both Bryant Homes and David McLean Homes. With comprehensive experience working across South Wales and the South West, Carl is delighted to be driving forward the development of Persimmon Homes’ 25th regional operating company:

Having lived and worked in the South West for over 15 years, I know the local marketplace extremely well and believe the Severn Valley region offers huge potential for us to continue to develop the success of our existing sites, whilst also seeking opportunities to expand the Persimmon brand into new areas.

Encompassing a geographical area spanning the Forest-of-Dean, South Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset. Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has assumed responsibility for a number of sites previously managed by both Persimmon Wessex and Persimmon South West.

Sites acquired by Persimmon Homes Severn Valley from the restructuring of the Wessex and South West regions include 700 units in Portishead, over 450 units in Weston-Super-Mare, some 500 units in Bridgwater plus a substantial development in Stroud. Alongside this, the company has already acquired sites in Dursley, Gloucestershire, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset and Ashley Down, Bristol with plans to focus strongly on further opportunities within the city. The region also has a strong strategic land bank and will be promoting new sites such as Weston Airfield for development over the next few years.

Persimmon Severn Valley will be moving to purpose built offices in Weston-super-Mare during 2008, but are currently based in Bridgwater. The company currently employs 19 members of staff with the intention of having a team of 23 by the end of 2007.

Originally from Leamington Spa in Warwickshire, Carl is married with two young sons and lives in Bristol. A keen sportsman, in his spare time Carl enjoys playing golf and running whilst also enjoying rugby and motor sports.
