Dick scoops fifth quality award

Persimmon Homes site manager, Dick Buswell has had his diligence and hard work recognised by the NHBC after winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award for the fifth time. Dick’s team at Persimmon Homes’ Oxley Grange development in Milton Keynes downed tools for all the right reasons when they were joined by colleagues from Persimmon’s regional office to celebrate his win with an onsite presentation.

One of just 400 site managers nationwide to receive the Quality Award accolade, Dick was awarded the prize for his work at Oxley Grange, where he is currently overseeing the construction of 106 new homes.

Don Mason, construction director for Persimmon Homes Midlands presented Dick with his Quality Award and commented: “I am delighted that Dick has once again scooped a Quality Award in recognition of the dedication and expertise which he consistently demonstrates in ensuring all of our homes are built to the high standard upon which we have built our reputation. Competing against 15,000 site managers nationwide, winning a Quality Award is no small feat and to do so five times is truly outstanding.

“Having been with the company since we acquired Beazer Homes six years ago, Dick is a highly respected site manager and this was demonstrated by the number of colleagues who turned out to witness him receiving his award.”

Dick will now go forward to compete in the next round of the Pride in the Job awards for a Top 100 Seal of Excellence Award and a Regional Award. The competition reaches its climax in January 2008 when the UK's three overall Supreme winners will be announced at a Gala Awards ceremony in London.

Now in its 27th year, NHBC's Pride in the Job is the only national competition to focus on the contribution the site manager makes in producing high quality new homes. Over 18,000 site managers are entered into the awards and each are assessed across 38 aspects of site management, including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and leadership and organisational skills.
