Gladedale welcomes approval for village plans

22nd April 2008 Print
Gladedale (North East Scotland) Ltd has welcomed the decision by Dundee City Council to approve its plans for a village of 230 homes in Dundee's Western Gateway. The Council's Development Quality Committee approved the plans at its meeting in Dundee last night (Monday).

Work on the site is expected to start early in 2009.

The development at South Gray Village will include a mix of 194 three, four and five-detached bedroom houses, each with a garage and at least two parking spaces.

There will also be another 21 terraced houses and 15 flats, located around a central village green, as well as a shop.

Jason Wallace, Managing Director at Gladedale (North East Scotland) Ltd, said: "We are delighted that the Council's Development Quality Committee looked so favourably on our proposals for South Gray Village and gave it their approval.

"We believe this is an exciting development which will bring a variety of much needed housing to the west of Dundee, ranging from two-bedroom apartments up to five-bedroom detached houses.

"We are also building in Baldragon, Dundee, and Panmurefield, near Broughty Ferry, and as a UK wide housebuilder with a base in the city, we are pleased to be part of the development of the villages at the Western Gateway. We believe that this will be a flagship development for Gladedale over the next few years."

The 51-acre South Gray Village will complete the allocation of development identified in the Dundee Angus Structure Plan and the Dundee Local Plan Review.
