Weston Homes waves the flag for England

24th April 2008 Print
Award-winning developer Weston Homes is commemorating St George’s Day with the day off of work for all 240 Weston Homes employees in honour of England’s patron saint. The initiative will mean more than £200,000 in lost revenue and overhead costs, but the annual scheme is encouraged by the company as a solid move towards increased patriotism.

Bob Weston, Chairman of Weston Homes comments: “I feel strongly that St George’s Day should be an officially commemorated public holiday, in the same way other countries presently recognise their patron saints. I hope that our initiative will encourage other companies to join us in honouring St George to create the momentum to persuade the government make 23rd April a national holiday.”
