Sale or return with McDermott Homes

27th May 2008 Print
Sale or return with McDermott Homes McDermott Homes is launching a groundbreaking new initiative aimed at restoring confidence in the housing market. The leading North West property developer is offering buyers the chance to ‘try before you buy’ with selected properties available to rent, with a view to purchase later in the year.

With the combined pressure on prices and the growing difficulty in obtaining a mortgage, many buyers are being forced to delay their move. The innovative Sale or Return scheme allows serious buyers to get moving, whilst still having time to try out the new home and decide if they want to buy it.

“Buying a new home is a huge commitment and in the current climate it’s hardly surprising that some buyers are erring on the side of caution,” says Kevin Murthwaite, Sales and Marketing Director at McDermott Homes.

“The market is tougher at the moment and people need more time to go through the process, so choosing to rent in the short term offers much greater flexibility. Buyers can move without delay and get all the benefits of a brand new home but without the pressure, as they have the extra time to save up the deposit or sort out the mortgage.”

Perfect for anyone that needs to move quickly but still wants to see how the market pans out, the Sale or Return agreement is undertaken with ‘a view to buy’ but this does not mean that the tenant has to commit to purchasing the property. The agreement is initially for a six-month period but it may be possible to extend the tenancy if they need more time.

“It’s all about helping buyers to get started during what is undeniably a difficult time,” continues Kevin. “The rental period acts as a cushion, so that they can be absolutely sure that the move is the right one for them. However, we believe that the property market won’t drop at the rate predicted by some of the more dramatic reports, and therefore they won’t want to rent for long.”

McDermott Homes currently has six developments in the North West in Bacup, Keighley, Earby, Bolton, Blackburn and Rossendale.

The developer is also currently offering a number of other excellent deals for immediate buyers, including 105% part exchange, as well as massive discounts and free carpets on selected plots. More information is available from the McDermott sales office or by visiting Mcdermotthomes.co.uk.
