Who is your celebrity neighbour from hell?

Troubled Amy Winehouse was named the Ultimate Celebrity Neighbour from Hell. The Rehab star came top of a poll of famous people we would hate to live next to - closely followed by her pal Pete Doherty.

In contrast, funny man Peter Kay was voted the most desirable celebrity neighbour in the Principality Building Society poll of 2,500 people.

The stand up comedian, who shot to fame on notable TV programme Phoenix Nights, just beat new mum of six Angelina Jolie to the top spot.

The Hollywood actress was just ahead of This Morning presenter, Fern Britton, who has clearly won the hearts of the nation again following her gastric band op controversy.

Antony Green, Insurance Manager at Principality Building Society, who commissioned the study, said: ''People have very definite ideas about who they do and don't want to live next door to and this reflects our desire to build a safe and secure home and community.

''It seems anyone with a shred of bad press would threaten the feeling of a secure community whereas celebrities who are good natured and kind would be welcomed into a neighbourhood."

Hot-tempered supermodel Naomi Campbell, fiery Heather Mills McCartney and Kerry Katona complete the top five neighbours from hell.

Big Brother presenter Davina McCall and Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt complete the top five most desirable neighbours.

Despite having a clear idea of who they would like living next door, only 17 per cent of folk regularly have coffee or other social occasions with their neighbours.

Four in 10 say they wish they could hold street parties with the neighbours, whilst 26 per cent would like to hold regular coffee mornings.

Forty two per cent would join in if someone organised community events such as fun runs and barbeques.

Mr Green continued: "Today's modern communities tend to be more transient and this could be the reason why many of us take less time out to get to know our neighbours despite our best intentions.

"Building a solid, peaceful neighbourhood is not easy to achieve but it can help to make a community feel safer and have a dramatic impact on home security.

"Whilst nobody likes nosy neighbours, the fact that they are looking out for us makes protecting our home and property a little easier.

"We should all make time to get to know our neighbours better - a united community will take us one step closer to protecting our most valuable assets."
