Buy new and beat rising fuel bills

Buy new and beat rising fuel bills The government's latest announcement to help homeowners beat soaring gas and electricity bills is a step in the right direction but, according to Bryant Homes, doesn't support the thousands of homeowners in the UK not in fuel poverty but who are still being hit hard by price hikes.

The housebuilder is encouraging anyone concerned about the energy efficiency of their home to consider buying new - a step that would instantly reduce their fuel bills.

Nicola Bullivant, sales and marketing manager for Bryant Homes, explains: "The credit crunch has hit everyone hard and although this new range of measures helps the most needy, it's not going to make a vast difference to many households looking to reduce their outgoings. Our new homes come with cavity wall and loft insulation as standard and with double glazing the norm, heat saving is made easy. Coupled with special discounts and packages, no upward chain and lower maintenance and running costs, there's never been a better time to buy new."

New properties have long claimed benefits over old in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact, and a recent independent assessment, commissioned by Bryant Homes, revealed just how much homeowners could save by buying new. Using Energy Performance Certificates, Bryant Homes discovered that those living in a new home could use 55% less energy, save 65% on heating, lighting and hot water bills and generate 72% less CO2 emissions than those living in a second hand property.

One of the most striking differences came in the cost of heating the home which totalled just £241 in the new house, compared to £947 in the older property.

Bryant Homes currently has a whole host of packages and offers available across East Anglia, whatever your situation. Whether you're a first time buyer, have an existing property to sell or are looking for a buy-to-let, Bryant Homes has a moving package to suit your needs.
