George Wimpey has key to rising fuel costs Gordon Brown's £910 million package of fuel cost measures will help the neediest - but thousands of households won't see the benefit according to George Wimpey.

Although homeowners have been offered 50% towards the cost of insulation, the national housebuilder highlights that buying new includes all cavity wall and loft insulation as standard as well as double glazing, meaning that fuel bills are instantly reduced.

Steve Rolt, regional sales and marketing director, explains: "The government's latest announcement only goes part way to helping homeowners beat the credit crunch. We are encouraging anyone who is looking to reduce their monthly bills to consider buying a new home. This would significantly reduce the amount spent on both fuel bills and maintenance costs. As we are currently offering a range of special discounts and packages, moving home could be easier than you might think!"

New properties have long claimed benefits over old in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact, and a recent independent assessment, revealed just how much homeowners could save by buying new. Using Energy Performance Certificates the study highlighted that those living in a new home could use 55% less energy, save 65% on heating, lighting and hot water bills and generate 72% less CO2 emissions than those living in a second hand property.

One of the most striking differences came in the cost of heating the home which totalled just £241 in the new house, compared to £947 in the older property.

George Wimpey currently has a range of offers and incentives available across East Anglia. Whether you're a first time buyer, have an existing property to sell or are looking for a buy-to-let, George Wimpey has a package to suit your needs.
