New report puts Miller Homes in top 3

The current Housebuilder of the Year, which is building new homes at twenty one locations throughout the northwest has been highly praised in the Next Generation analysis which shows that many homebuilders have stepped up to the challenge of delivering on the Government's targets to achieve more efficient, more sustainable housing.
The report shows that while in 2007, no company had a climate change policy in place, 8 of the top 20 companies benchmarked in 2008 have developed such a policy showing commitment from the top firms in the industry.
Sue Warwick, national director of sales and marketing for Miller Homes, said: “The issue of climate change is one that affects the house building industry more than most. At Miller it has long been a key priority for us to proactively develop plans and practices to help us deal with the impending regulations. But far more than that, we wanted to become one of the companies which leads on action to combat the harmful carbon emissions produced in the home so this recognition from Next Generation is very positive news for the business.”
Miller Homes began building environmentally sound and energy efficient schemes as early as 2004 with projects like Upton Green in Northampton and Allerton Bywater in Yorkshire. The developer is also currently pioneering a new housing project known as Miller Zero, within which homes are being built to meet levels 3, 4, 5 and 6 on the Government’s Code for Sustainable Homes, years ahead of legislative requirements.
