Expert takes on the housing industry

Expert takes on the housing industry New Homes industry expert and Yorkshire resident, Carolyn Rushbrook is offering the region’s house hunters an insight to what the latest property market ‘stats and facts’ will mean for them.

Carolyn, sales director for Miller Homes Yorkshire comments: “The housing market is always the first industry to be hit in a downturn, but likewise it is the first to pick up again. The latest figures from the Halifax show a rise in the price of UK homes by 1.9% in January compared to December. This modest rise will undoubtedly offer a confidence boost to property sellers and buyers throughout Yorkshire. Who will also gain from the latest interest rate cut to 1% which is already being passed on to customers.”

Halifax reports that the Yorkshire and Humber region has a house price standard of £123,100 compared to the UK average house price of £163,966.

Carolyn continued: “There are now more and more opportunities for housebuyers in the region. The stimulus offered by interest rate cuts coupled with incentives, assistance packages, confidence insurances and more affordable housing will all aid purchasers in their decision to move up or onto the property ladder.

“The advice I can offer househunters in the Yorkshire region would be; 1. Take confidence in your purchase – a property is still a good long-term investment and 2. Shop around – make sure the deal suits your needs right now.”

Miller Homes, an award winning national housebuilder, has 15 developments across the region with property prices starting from just £84,500, well below the national average.

“We are seeing a new profile of customer coming through our doors – people who say that they wouldn’t have considered buying new before but recognise that buying new is often the most affordable and best value option,” commented Carolyn on the new homes market.
