Superstitious homebuyers avoid Friday 13th
As Friday 13th approaches, the latest survey from Moveme.com, one of the UK’s leading home move websites, finds that today’s home movers are a superstitious bunch with 45% claiming they would rather delay their move than move home on Friday 13th and a further 22% stating they would not consider buying a home that was number 13.In fact, it isn’t just home movers who are worried about Friday the 13th. It is estimated that 67 million people suffer from Paraskevidekatriaphobia (a fear of Friday 13th) and that around £400 - £500 million in business will be lost owing to people refusing to travel or go to work on this day.
Jonathan Turpin, Chief Executive of Moveme.com, said:
“Moving home can be a stressful experience so it’s no surprise that superstitious movers are shying away from the added stress of moving home on Friday 13th. However, with some careful planning and assistance from professional movers, this Friday is as good a time as any other to move home. In fact, with many removal companies noticing a drop in demand on this date, those prepared to take their chances may be able to negotiate themselves a great deal.”
