Buyers in Yorkshire buck the rental trend

Bucking this trend is a retired couple from Shepley, Barbara and Cedric Silsby, who chose to leave rented accommodation and regain their independence by purchasing a delightful detached home from leading regional housebuilder, Jones Homes.
Barbara comments: “After selling our previous home of 24 years we struggled to find a new build property that was suitable and so opted for rented accommodation. It was only meant to be a short term solution, as renting is dead money.
“As grandparents, investing in the future for our family is very important to us. By purchasing a property from Jones Homes, it has allowed us to get more for our money and we have made a safe long-term investment,” adds Barbara.
The couple bought a four bedroom detached family at Jones Homes’ Brooklands View development in Skelmanthorpe.
Cedric says: “After renting, we wanted to buy a new build property and enjoy the many benefits of owning your own home all over again. From choosing our own furniture to fit the property and decorating to suit our tastes to tending to the garden, there is nothing quite like owning your home.”
Jayne Swift, sales and marketing director at Jones Homes, commented: “We believe that purchasing a new home is a long-term investment. It offers buyers more for their hard earned money as well as security for the future.
“Cedric and Barbara are a prime example of a growing number of people opting out of rented accommodation and choosing to buy instead, investing in something tangible,” concludes Jayne.
Brooklands View is conveniently located close to the M1 motorway, offering easy access to Huddersfield, Wakefield and Barnsley.
Prices at the development start from £132,500 for a two bedroom apartment and range up to £270,000 for a detached four bedroom family home.
