Kiss goodbye to renting

So housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, has put together its top five tips to help first-time buyers through the process.
Many of David Wilson’s developments offer properties which are ideal for first-timers and there are deals you can take advantage of which will mean you can afford to buy the home you have fallen in love with. These, together with great prices and experienced staff, not to mention the following tips, mean you could find your perfect match.
1. Save – for your deposit, furniture, fixtures etc. But remember, David Wilson has some great deals such as five per cent deposit paid, equity share and legal fees paid. This will ease the pocket strings and will go a great way to supplementing the amount you have already saved. With equity share you own 100 per cent of your property, whilst paying just 85 per cent or 75 per cent of the cost – David Wilson covers the rest with a ten year loan. The mortgage broker may even take David Wilson’s loan paid on the remaining percentage as a deposit, meaning you don’t have to have one.
2. Have all your financial information to hand when you are visiting the development with a mind to buy – these will include pay slips, six months worth of bank statements, proof of residency and credit cards. However, remember that David Wilson has independent financial advisors on hand to talk you through the whole process and give you the best advice, based on your situation. You don’t need to be a financial wizard – leave that to them.
3. Don’t be shy – ask about what deals you can take advantage of. What is more, David Wilson staff will know which one would suit you best and can tailor make your purchase to suit you.
4. List what belongings you have so you can visualise where everything will go in your beautiful new home. And remember to look at any view or show apartments and houses, as David Wilson has furniture within them which will give you a great idea of how fantastic your home will look.
5. Be open minded – some compromises may be needed along the way as being a first-time buyer has its limitations. Things like space, number of bathrooms, location, house type, may be some of the things which need to be more flexible depending on budget and preference. However, David Wilson does have many of house types specifically designed to suit first-time buyers, there are developments scattered across the region to suit your preferred location and prices do vary across house types and locations.
Mark Docherty, sales director for David Wilson Homes, said: “Whatever your situation as a first-time buyer, we are sure to have a solution to help you get on the property ladder.
“In this climate, there is no better time to finally land your dream home. Our staff will do everything to help, whether it’s with a great deal, lending some great advice or suggesting properties and developments which might be right for you.”
