Bellway - A 'Klass' act Widely recognized as the Oscars of the house building industry the annual Building Awards managed by the trade magazine Building has announced that housebuilder, Bellway has won the 2009 Major Housebuilder of the Year Award title.

The award presented by musician Myleene Klass recognized Bellway’s strong financial performance in an extremely adverse market place and commended its strategy of maintaining a broad client base and strong forward order book. The company’s health and safety record was also praised; a nationwide ladder campaign has resulted in Bellway reducing incidents of falls from heights.

Collecting the award, Ted Ayres, Bellway’s Regional Chairman, commented: “The Building Awards are widely respected and judged by peers of the industry which makes them all the more worth while. We are particularly pleased to have been selected as Major Housebuilder of the Year. The award is a real feather in the cap for all our on-site workers and support staff and provides further evidence of the care and quality craftsmanship that goes into each and every home we build.”

Bellway is the country’s fourth largest house builder with developments stretching the length and breadth of Britain. Recognised as a family builder Bellway is active on around 200 sites at any one time. Its homes are designed, built and marketed by local teams operating from regional offices managed and staffed by local people. This allows the company to stay close to its customers and take key decisions about design, build, planning and marketing in response to local and not national demands.
