Barratt axes stamp duty on homes up to £250k

Barratt axes stamp duty on homes up to £250k The Chancellor Alistair Darling may have announced that the Stamp Duty holiday on homes worth up to £175,000 will be extended until the end of the year, but Barratt North East is going even further by offering to scrap the tax on all its homes up to £250,000 for the same period.

This effectively means that the majority of Barratt homes in the region are exempt from Stamp Duty because Barratt could pay it on their buyers’ behalf.

Bernard Rooney, Barratt North East Managing Director, said: “When people want to move home, Stamp Duty is an additional cost which can sometimes make the difference between being able to afford it or not.

“So it is good news for the housing market that the Government is extending the exemption period on properties worth up to £175,000.

“However, if you decide to buy a new Barratt home you could effectively pay no Stamp Duty on a home worth up to £250,000, until the end of this year. This is a great incentive for anyone thinking of moving home to save themselves thousands of pounds.”

New homes are currently available for the Barratt Stamp Duty holiday at developments across the North East. For further information visit barratthomes.co.uk.
