Estate Agency nips snooping in the bud

10th June 2009 Print
Human nature dictates that most of us like snooping around other people’s homes – celebrity pads featured on the television and show homes to name but a couple. A new survey has revealed that 20 per cent of people view a house with no intention of buying it, but just to have a nose around someone else’s home!

Results also show that one in five people admitted to viewing a home they could not afford, and were not even looking to buy a property.

And according to the research by housing website PropertyLive, seven per cent said they like to view houses to get ideas for their own home.

However flattering that may seem to some, years of experience means that independent estate agents and valuers Harrison Murray can nip a suspected snooper in the bud, should the situation arise.

Commercial director Nick Salmon said: “Our professional teams across all our 18 branches are experienced enough to know a timewaster when they present themselves, and to sort the wheat from the chaff by carefully qualifying potential buyers before viewings take place.

“We do not want to be wasting valuable time for the seller with viewings which we know are not serious, but by the same token we are very careful not to jeopardise the chances of finding genuine buyer.”
