Developers put their best feet forward

Hayley Loveday and Nicola Vernon, from George Wimpey and Bryant Homes’ regional head office in Leicester, dodged blisters and humid conditions to complete the 5km course in under 40 minutes and collect more than £800 for the charity.
Staged in association with East Midlands radio station Heart 106, Castle Donington’s Race for Life brought two thousand women to the famous East Midlands venue.
Taylor Wimpey’s mascots, George Wimpey and Rufus Tiler cheered Nicola and Hayley along the route and also handed out goody bags to those crossing the finishing line with the Heart 106 Ground Patrol.
Hayley, Marketing Assistant for Taylor Wimpey East Midlands, says: “This was a fantastic event and we’re delighted to have been part of a nationwide initiative that more than 600,000 women will take part in this year.
“The atmosphere was superb and it’s nice to raise important money for charity while having such a great time.
“Our colleagues at George Wimpey and Bryant new homes developments throughout Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire have been very supportive and generous.”
Race for Life is the UK’s largest women-only fundraising initiative, with special events being staged across the country during May and July. The flagship event brings together thousands of women each year to walk, jog or run 5k and raise money to beat cancer.
This year, Cancer Research UK hopes 680,000 women will do something amazing and come together to raise £62.5 million to help beat cancer.
To date, four million women have raised over £240 million for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
