David Wilson site managers celebrate pride in the job The Construction Team at David Wilson East Midlands are celebrating after winning an impressive five Pride in The Job Awards.

The annual honours are the most coveted in the industry and are awarded after the NHBC (National House Building Council) carries out a series of unannounced checks to developments all over the country.

The aim is to seek out the UK’s best Site Managers and to reward them for their technical skill, quality workmanship, customer care and site safety. Homehunters who buy at an NHBC Award winning site can also rest safe in the knowledge that all homes at that development have been built to an exceptionally high standard.

Darren Langton, Construction Director at David Wilson comments “Our Site Managers play an integral role in delivering the high quality homes that David Wilson are renowned for building and we are thrilled at winning an exceptional five NHBC Awards this year.

“We have a very good track record in these awards but five is a fantastic result and a fitting testament to the hard work and dedication of not only the Site Managers, but also to all workers on site.”

Gary Tebbatt, Peter Seditas, Henry Patecki, Alex Coltman and Ian Bentley have all been named Pride in the Job winners and each will be entered into the next stage of the competition with a chance to win a Seal of Excellence Award.

Name: Gary Tebbatt
Age: 44
Current development: The Chestnuts, off Barkby Road, Syston

The longest serving winner, Gary has worked for David Wilson for over 15 years. This is his fourth Pride in the Job Award and his second as Site Manager at The Chestnuts. Gary has previously been awarded the prestigious Seal of Excellence title too.

He comments “Once you win your first Pride in the Job award, the pressure is really on to keep on winning so I’m more than happy to have won again for the fourth year in a row. I try to maintain as high a standard as possible on site so this is a great honour for not just myself, but for all the team at The Chestnuts.”

Name: Peter Seditas
Age: 41
Current development: Kibworth Meadows, Wistow Road, Kibworth

Senior Site Manager Peter started working for David Wilson three years ago. He initially worked at Scholars Grange in Scraptoft but has been based at Kibworth Meadows for the past year.

He comments “This is my first NHBC Award so obviously I was delighted when I found out I’d won. Kibworth is one of the bigger developments comprising over 600 units but I have a great team here, in particular Assistant Site Manager Phil Symonds, who are committed to maintaining quality build even on a scheme of this size.”

Name: Henry Patecki
Age: 50
Current development: The Hedgerows, Masefield Drive, Earl Shilton

Henry has been a Site Manager at David Wilson since 1997 and has won no less than eight Pride in the Job awards. He has been heading up the team at The Hedgerows since it opened in October last year.

He comments “This award is the most coveted within the industry and after being without one for three years I am thrilled to have won again. I’ve worked at a number of developments throughout my time at David Wilson and have won awards at all but one of them- a fitting tribute to the hardworking and skilled trades people the company employs.”

Name: Alex Coltman
Age: 37
Current development: Montgomery Gardens, Montgomery Road, Earl Shilton

Alex started working for David Wilson some 14 years ago. A joiner by trade, Alex quickly progressed to Assistant Site Manager and then on to Site Manager and has been at Montgomery Gardens for the past three years. This is his third NHBC Award.

He comments “I’m very pleased to have won my third Pride in the Job award in a row, particularly during this very challenging market. I think the secret to running a successful site is being organised and man management and this award is a great way of recognising all the hard work and effort put in by the team.”

Name: Ian Bentley
Age: 46
Current development: Meadow Grange, Willow Road, Barrow-Upon-Soar

Ian has worked for a number of housebuilders but has been with David Wilson at Meadow Grange for the past two years. This is his fourth Pride in the Job Award.

He comments “David Wilson has a fantastic reputation within the industry and it is a very good company to work. This is my first Pride in the Job Award since I’ve worked here so I was very pleased to have won. I’d say the key to my success is being organised and making sure everything is done at the right time.”

David Wilson’s win is part of the Barratt Group’s record breaking 76 Quality Awards. This is the fifth consecutive year that the housebuilder has come out top and reinforces the company’s status as the UK’s leading housebuilder.
