New facilities for sports groups in Beeston

28th August 2009 Print
New facilities for sports groups in Beeston Sports groups in Beeston can now take advantage of the brand new facilities on offer at The Hetley Pearson Recreation Ground on Queens Road following its official opening by the Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Broxtowe, Councillor John and Mrs Margaret Longdon, on Tuesday 25th September.

The new facilities, which includes a pavilion incorporating changing facilities and a social room and cricket/football pitches, are a joint venture between The Pearson Centre for Young People, Broxtowe Borough Council and David Wilson East Midlands.

Representatives from all three organisations, as well as members of various sports groups that already make use of the ground, joined the Mayor and Mayoress to toast its official opening.

Councillor John Longdon comments “This is a significant achievement for all involved and the first new park to be created in the Borough for over 30 years. The site will continue to develop with a further football pitch and new children’s play area”.

The sports ground and pavilion is located adjacent to David Wilson’s Birkin Fields development and is owned by The Pearson Centre for Young People but is leased to the Council who takes bookings from local sports groups who wish to make use of the facilities.

John Wilson, Chairman of the Management Committee of The Pearson Centre for Young People comments “This official opening is the culmination of a long journey but its great to have the pavilion finished and these facilities are massively better than the old hut where we used to be based.

“It’s a lovely site and a great facility and we’re looking forward to making use of the new ground that will undoubtedly help to enhance our work with local communities.”

Philip Lacey, Sales Director at David Wilson comments “We’re thrilled that the Mayor and Mayoress were able to mark the official opening of the new sports ground and I hope that The Pearson Centre for Young People, as well as the numerous sports teams who already make use of the ground, enjoy these new facilities which we are proud to have been a part of.”

Birkin Fields on Queens Road offers a superb selection of three- bedroom homes. Prices at the development start from £195,995.
