Persimmon receives Kickstart funding for new homes

Following yesterday’s announcement, by Housing Minister, John Healey, Persimmon will receive a significant slice of the allocated funds from the Homes and Communities Agency, to provide new affordable homes as part of the HomeBuy Direct sales scheme.
The £2.5m investment for 100 new affordable homes will enable Persimmon to ‘unlock previously stalled sites’ and thus build in total 274 new properties of all tenures in Kent, East Sussex, the West Midlands and Staffordshire.
In the South East Repton Park, Ashford and Roebuck Park, Hellingly in the South East will welcome funding for 59 HomeBuy Direct homes and 120 additional properties in total, while in the West Midlands region, Mitchells Brook in Sandwell and Attwood Green in Birmingham will benefit from 19 HomeBuy Direct homes and 102 dwellings in total; Rugeley in Staffordshire will play host to 21 HomeBuy Direct homes and 52 new dwellings in total.
Ashley Lane, Director of (Westbury Partnerships) - Persimmon, comments: “This Kickstart initiative and financial support from the Government via the Homes and Communities Agency is welcomed by Persimmon. Not only will it unlock stalled sites and bring new job opportunities but also deliver much needed affordable homes in areas requiring them, thus being a help to whole community.”
The Kickstart programme is a key part of the Government’s investment to help combat the recession. It is designed to unlock housebuilding sites currently unable to proceed and support construction of high quality mixed tenure housing developments.
