Fiona finds new job on house hunting trip

A chance meeting by former colleagues has resulted in the pair becoming work mates once again – more than 14 years later.

Joan Forshaw and Fiona Maguire worked together as cabin crew with Britannia at Manchester Airport before Joan took voluntary redundancy in 1993.

Joan now works as a sales advisor for Bellway Homes based at its Hunts Cross development where Fiona coincidentally went house hunting with a friend.

Said Fiona, who left the airlines in 2000: “It was just fate really. I walked into the sales office and saw Joan there. We just got chatting again and I mentioned that I was looking for a similar job and was just about to join an agency, as I only wanted part time work.

“Joan mentioned that Bellway took on advisors part time and suggested I apply which I did and got the job. I really love it and the hours fit in brilliantly with the family. I don’t miss flying at all. I wish I had done this years ago.”

Fiona is now based at Bellway’s Maiden Vale development in Clubmoor where the company is building a range of 64 two, three and four bedroom properties.

She quit her job with the airline she was working for as the work had started to take her away from home for up to four nights at a time. Now she has more time to spend with her children, nine-year-old Michael and Grace (7).

Joan added: “It’s funny how you can bump into someone after so long. Fiona said that she fancied a job as a sales advisor and I mentioned that Bellway offered part time positions and that they are a really good company to work for.”
