Redrow provides much needed therapy

The latest £15,000 donation from the charitable trust – set up by award winning home builder Redrow - will be used to fund a therapy room at this new complex.
Carole Riley, fundraising & communications manager for Woodlands Hospice says: “We are absolutely delighted that the Redrow Foundation have re-affirmed their commitment to developing their on-going relationship with the hospice by way of this further donation and in particular, working with us to help those who need our services so greatly. This recent donation follows on from their gift of £37,000 late last year, which was to fund the visitor's lounge in the new inpatient unit" .
Woodlands Hospice provides palliative day care to the people of Merseyside, who have life threatening illnesses. Established in 1991, it opened its doors to patients in 1996. The hospice enhances patients’ quality of life by offering care tailored to their individual needs. With the addition of the new bedded unit, the hospice will be able to provide familiar and continuity of care for those patients who currently use the services of the day hospice with staff they have become to know and trust.
The new 15 bedded unit will have single en-suite rooms, which will all overlook the garden and there will be space for family and friends to sit or stay – or even just to make a cup of tea. The hospice will be able to provide patients with specialist care in a more comfortable home environment, which can make a big difference at a very difficult time.
The charity has so far managed to raise £1 million of the £2.25 million needed to build the new unit which hopes to open in the Liverpool Capital of Culture year.
Paul Pedley, Executive Deputy Chairman for Redrow plc - currently building in Orrell Park and Garston in Liverpool - and a trustee of the Foundation, says: “The Redrow Foundation is extremely impressed with the work that Woodlands Hospice does and the attentive care it gives the people of Merseyside who need it most. Therefore, it is my honour to once again offer our support to this worthwhile charity with the hope that it will continue to provide much needed care long into the future.”
The Redrow Foundation was established to celebrate the house builder’s 50,000th legal completion and a £50 contribution is now made to the trust for every home sold.
The Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support for the relief of poverty and sickness in the UK and, in particular, to providing accommodation and related assistance, including respite care, especially to children, the elderly and those who are sick or infirm.
