Mayor opens Speakman Gardens, and stays there

Cllr Shaw, his partner Melanie and their daughters Beth, 8, and Emily, 5, moved out of their three bedroom house in Whiston and into a spacious four bedroom detached home at the development on Steley Way in Prescot. The family used Bryant Homes’ Market Mover scheme which enabled them to agree a marketing price for their own home and reserve their new home at a fixed price.
Cllr Shaw, 38, said: “We had been thinking about moving up the ladder into a bigger home for a little while but we hadn’t seen anything we liked. We didn’t want to keep uprooting the girls so we wanted to make sure that when we did move we picked a home which we could stay in for many years. As mayor of Prescot I knew a lot about the plans for Speakman Gardens and how it’s helping to regenerate the area by building a community here. When I went to launch the development I knew then that we had found somewhere which ticked all the boxes for us.
“As well as offering a wide choice of homes Speakman Gardens is also in an excellent location close to a host of local amenities, good schools and the road network which is ideal for commuting. At weekends we can drive to Liverpool city centre or to St Helen’s and the seaside isn’t too far away either. When the weather warms up we will no doubt be spending lots of time at the beach!”
Cllr Shaw and his family make the most of the amenities in Prescot at the weekend and are supporting a drive to keep the local leisure facilities open.
Cllr Shaw added: “We’ve settled in really well here and are very much enjoying getting to know our neighbours and the local area. It’s a lovely place to bring up children in and I really hope we can make this into a strong and happy community.”
Sam Williams, regional sales manager for Bryant Homes, comments: “We’re thrilled that Cllr Shaw and his family have settled in so well at Speakman Gardens, and we’re looking forward to seeing the new community there grow.
“When most people look for a new home it is usually location and price that are the deciding factors, rather than the local community, but for Bryant Homes building a community is just as important as building houses. We offer a wide range of house styles on our developments and many of our schemes encompass facilities such as communal areas, open spaces and playgrounds. I’d advise any house hunters who are keen to start a new life in a growing community to come and see our homes consultants.”
For families like Cllr Shaw’s who are looking for more room the four-bedroom Manningford offers plenty of space and style and is priced from £214,995. On the ground floor, there is a generously proportioned living room as well as a large kitchen with attached dining room, ideal for hosting the whole family and friends for dinner parties. The fully fitted kitchen would make even Delia envious, and the sleek modern integrated appliances will ensure your meal is cooked perfectly with no need to worry about the washing up afterwards!
Upstairs the master bedroom benefits from an en-suite bathroom and fitted double wardrobes to hold the outfits of even the most dedicated follower of fashion. There are three further well-sized bedrooms, and a stylish family bathroom.
Once complete Speakman Gardens will offer a collection of three and four bedroom homes and two-bedroom apartments. Prescot has a wide range of amenities less than a mile from the development, including the Prescot Shopping Centre. Further afield, Liverpool is just eight miles away offering an even wider range of shopping, leisure activities and nightlife.
There is a selection of good local primary and secondary schools nearby, including the new centres for learning in Prescot and Whiston which are part of the building schools for the future initiative.
