Liverpool couple buy hassle-free first home First time buyers Mike Benson and Sam Foley have discovered that a new-build home can be the best route onto the property ladder. Not only has this young couple from Liverpool acquired a home that is brand new, modern and needs little maintenance, they’ve also been able to finance it without a big deposit and have delayed paying 25% of the cost for up to 10 years.

Twenty-year-old hairdresser Sam says: “We’ve been living with Mike’s mum in Kensington for the last two years but really wanted a place of our own. We looked at older properties first but they needed such a lot of work doing and loads of money spending on them; and we didn’t have enough deposit saved up to get a mortgage.”

Sam and Mike, 25, a council refuse worker, found the ideal solution at Gleeson Homes’ Montreal Gardens in North Huyton. They’re now the proud owners of a three-bedroom end-terrace that’s got everything they wanted in a new home – and didn’t cost them the earth.

“Not having to find a big deposit was great,” says Sam. “And being able to put off paying 25% of the cost for up to 10 years really helped us a lot.

“Never having bought a house before we were both very nervous but the Gleeson staff were fantastic and helped us along the way. We were very excited on the day we got our keys.”

Available on selected properties only at Montreal Gardens, Gleeson Homes’ shared equity deal means purchasers could own a two-bedroom home for an initial outlay of just £74,996, by taking advantage of a 10-year equity loan from Gleeson to cover a quarter of the purchase price. There’s no interest or rent to pay on the outstanding balance – leaving home owners to settle up when they have more funds available or when they sell up and move on.

Montreal Gardens has a range of stylish two, three and four-bedroom homes all designed to suit the demands of modern life, including fitted kitchens with a range of quality appliances and smart bathrooms which feature pristine white suites and attractive tiling.

North Huyton still retains its traditional small town appeal, with the shopping centre referred to by locals as 'the village' comprising a good range of high-street shops and a large Asda Walmart supermarket complex. There are plenty of schools in the area for growing families, as well as Knowsley Community College for further education.

The location is also perfect for young couples like Mike and Sam, who want a contemporary home within easy reach of Liverpool’s shops and nightlife. The M57 and M62 motorways are easily accessible and there are good train and bus services locally, with Roby train station less than two miles away.

As well as their shared equity scheme, Gleeson can also offer buyers a choice of other money saving incentives to suit their needs. These include 'move in for £99', whereby the customer’s legal fees, carpets and curtains are all paid for - it's available now on selected plots only at Montreal Gardens.

For more information visit the sales office and fully furnished show homes, which are open from 10am to 5pm Thursday to Monday, or log on to Gleeson-homes.co.uk.
