Farndon venture gets off to flying start

12th October 2007 Print
A new homes venture with an unusual extra of built-in owls’ nests in its grounds has got off to a flying start in the Cheshire village of Farndon, with six properties already sold and many more people looking to buy.

Named after William Lawes, personal musician to Charles I, who is commemorated in a stained glass window in the parish church of St Chad’s, Redrow’s newest development, Lawes Chase, will eventually feature 45 new homes.

The sales launch gave would-be homeowners and local people the first opportunity to see for themselves images, floorplans and material samples plus the high-standard of kitchen and bathroom choices that are available for the properties.

Situated on the English/Welsh border, off Townfield Lane, just five miles from Chester and Wrexham, it’s easy to see why Lawes Chase is enjoying early success.

Barbara Wright, area sales manager for Redrow Homes (North West), said: “We’ve been delighted with the response to the development. Local people and others from nearby Chester and Wrexham have all been very interested in the range of homes we have to offer.

“The location is undoubtedly the biggest draw, within walking distance of the pretty village centre and its shops, bars and restaurants, and with some of the larger properties backing onto the Conservation Area.”

Redrow’s development will comprise a mix of apartments, detached, semi-detached and mews housing offering something for everyone.

Initial prices are from £179,950 for a two-bedroom apartment above an integral single garage, with prices for four bedroom detached houses starting at £355,000 for a Kelsall style home, with ensuite and single garage.

Barbara adds: “The fact that we have a number of true detached houses with double garages – quite a rarity in the modern world of new-build – is certainly fuelling interest.

“We also have some great examples of homes whose roof space has been cleverly converted to create a whole extra floor of fabulous living accommodation – be it for a luxurious master bedroom and en-suite, bedrooms ideal for older children or space that lends itself to home office use, a games room or a gym.

“Meanwhile, the apartments and smaller houses are great for young professional couples, who will be impressed with the easy access to Chester and Wrexham, or for downsizers looking for a rural retreat and slower pace of life.”

As well as creating new homes Redrow is undertaking various measures to protect the local environment, including preservation of mature hedges, significant new planting and retaining and managing land to the west of the site as a foraging habitat for barn owls and other wildlife. Special nesting structures for barn owls are also being provided.
