Bellway’s Furlong’s Edge helps garden designer put down roots For garden designer James Brewer, 36, the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough was the ideal place for him to ‘put down roots’ and buy his first home.

James is revelling in his new found domestic bliss, after snapping up a three bedroom, three-storey townhouse at Bellway’s Furlong’s Edge development in Market Harborough. A professional landscape gardener and designer (James Brewer Gardens), his talent takes him far and wide, but he wanted to keep a bolt hole in the place he knows best.

James said: “Market Harborough appeals to me as I know the area well. In fact I rented just two streets away from my Bellway home. The area suits me perfectly for work, as the majority of my projects are based in Leicestershire. It’s a very peaceful and laidback place yet it has great local facilities.”

Creating beautiful gardens for others is what James does and so he has relished the fact that he now has his own garden to transform into an oasis of peace. He’s already finished his front garden, which at dusk is beautifully illuminated, and he is already making plans for the back garden.

The need for a well-designed modern home was essential in James’ decision. “As a designer, my work place is very creative. For my home, I wanted a calming place, somewhere to relax and buying new was the only way for me.”

James added: “As a first time buyer I had many question to ask, and it was great having people to turn to at each step. Even though moving house is supposed to be one of the most stressful experiences in life I have found the whole experience painless thanks to the sales staff who have been very helpful throughout the entire process, which in total took just three and half weeks.”
Chris Edginton, Bellway Northern Home Counties Sales Director, said: “Saving for a deposit while living in rented accommodation is almost impossible for the average first time buyer. At Bellway we helped James on his way by offering to pay the 5% stamp duty on his new home”.

He continued: “Buying a new home can be a stressful process at the best of times, but for first-time buyers the whole experience can seem scary. We are making it as easy as possible for buyers like James to get their foot on the property ladder. At Market Harborough and some of our other developments; The Observatory in nearby Corby and Barton Fields in Earls Barton, we are offering to pay 5% stamp duty for first time buyers and legal fees up to £500”.

Furlongs Edge is set within walking distance of the town centre for its bars, restaurants and shopping area. Market Harborough is an historic market town designed as a medieval ‘new town’ in the 12th century. The town is still renowned for its markets, which are held three times a week, and boasts a charming 14th century church spire and 17th century grammar school.

The area includes a leisure complex and a golf course, and the surrounding countryside provides ample opportunity to connect with nature.

London is easily accessible as regular trains run from Market Harborough’s mainline station to London Paddington, with journeys taking around 1 hour 15 minutes. It is also located within easy commuting distance of Leicester, Kettering and Northampton.
