New Bridge link for Freemens Meadow

An artist’s impression of the new bridge shows an elegant structure and a stunning example of modern bridge design.
All this will start to become a reality when construction staff begin preparatory work in October. The bridge is expected to be completed by December.
Barratt’s East Midlands Managing Director, Kevin Broughton said: “This bridge will become a major new thoroughfare for the people of Leicester. It has been skilfully designed with a number of special features, to ensure it meets with the full approval of motorists, pedestrians and waterway users.
“A cantilevered section will raise the footpath above the road level, to keep pedestrians and road users apart.
“Barratt is proud to be part of this exciting new project which will see the River Soar spanned by the first new bridge for more than a century.
“Freemens Meadow is one of Europe’s biggest and most successful urban regeneration projects – creating more than 1000 new homes in a fantastic riverside setting. It has helped to rejuvenate the whole of the West End of Leicester and the new bridge will be a fitting gateway to this highly attractive and popular development.”
