Premier housebuilder does the double at design awards

David Wilson East Midlands, the region's premier housebuilder, is celebrating after winning two prestigious Charnwood Design Awards. The awards, which are held every two years, aim to commend outstanding architectural work within the Borough's built environment.

There are five categories in total including New Building, Conservation, Landscape, Streetscape and the Special Award. David Wilson's Park View development in Anstey, Leicester won both the New Build category and Landscape category.

Philip Lacey, Sales Director for David Wilson says "We are thrilled to have won not just one but two Charnwood Design awards. We are the only winner in the Landscape category and one of only two winners to have received the New Build award.

"It's a real honour to receive recognition for all the hard work that David Wilson staff put into ensuring we provide developments of the highest standard in the East Midlands.

"We are dedicated to building outstanding new homes and we hope that this win will continue to build on David Wilson's success and highly regarded reputation in the area."

Councillor Peter Lewis Charnwood Borough Council's Cabinet member for Leisure and Culture who was one of the judges said "Park View, Bradgate Road, Anstey, offered a real sense of being a distinctive place. We welcomed the variety of house designs, the use of different living levels, the textures and surfaces of buildings. All these features gave the feeling this was not just a crowded block of buildings but a hugely attractive development.

"The architects and planners involved have maintained the site's setting preserving the hedgerow, trees and grassed open space, which all contribute to a sense of wholeness. Park View looked so firmly rooted in that environment that it might have been there for many years."

A ceremony to present the awards will be held on the evening of 2nd December.
